Top Tips For How to Treat Mum on Mothers Day

Whether the mother you’re celebrating is still in the throes of diaper duty, taught you to navigate the waters, or has been skillfully balancing homeschooling, office responsibilities, and preparing three square meals each day, she’s in need of a well-deserved break. Now is the perfect opportunity to pamper her with a touch of five-star treatment and express your heartfelt appreciation, and we’ve got everything you need to make it happen.

Calling all dads and kids out there – listen up! There’s no better way to say “I love you” than the classic combination of chocolates and flowers. (Moms, feel free to share this link with Dad for those subtle (or not-so-subtle) hints for your special day).

Just Let Her Sleep

After consulting with countless colleagues and fellow mothers, it’s become abundantly clear that the simplest and most cost-effective gift for Mother’s Day is granting her some precious sleep. Whether it’s an extra hour of slumber or, in my household, the entire morning cozied up in bed, this gift of rest is undoubtedly the most cherished and beloved choice!

Home Made Treasures

Reflecting on the years gone by, I’ve come to cherish some of the most meaningful treasures created with tender loving care, fashioned from an assortment of odds and ends, adorned with sequins, stickers, and handcrafted cards. Crafting a gift for Mom is a delight all children relish. Their sincere desire to bring joy to their parents is evident in the hundreds of paintings and drawings adorning every mom’s refrigerator or office whiteboard.

Engage the kids with colored paper, glue, sequins, and images of Mom, allowing them to explore their creativity individually. From adorable footprint cards to paper flower pots and vibrant bouquets, the possibilities are limitless. Some of the most cherished handmade Mother’s Day gifts that find a place in every Mom’s treasure trove are crafted with little fingers or assembled from plastic containers and pieces of pasta.

Another splendid homemade gift idea could involve creating a home spa experience for Mom, pampering her with a pedicure, complete with pink, sparkling toes, and a soothing head massage while her favorite candle fills the room with its comforting scent.

Take Over The Kitchen

A wonderful way to honor Mom is to take charge of the kitchen. You might pleasantly surprise her with a breakfast in bed adorned with special treats, or orchestrate a memorable lunch or dinner, with the whole family enthusiastically involved. It’s a delightful concept to have younger kids collaborate with their older siblings to devise a menu and craft a special menu card that Mom can cherish.

Consider setting an elegant table with flickering candles and delicate flower petals, even if it’s just her favorite take-out pizza. There are countless ways to make this day truly exceptional. One of my fondest recollections involves returning from a dog walk to discover a trail of paper hearts leading into the family room, where a cup of my beloved coffee and a heart-shaped sandwich awaited me – sheer perfection!

Always Consider Chocolate!

Who can resist the allure of chocolate? It checks so many boxes – it delights the palate, enchants the senses with its aroma, and bestows an instant sense of well-being with the very first bite. If your aim is to keep Mom in high spirits throughout the day, what better gift than a box of chocolates to stimulate her feel-good neurotransmitters?

For a more homemade touch, the older and more imaginative kids could embark on crafting their own delectable chocolate brownies or fashion chocolate protein balls composed of Mom’s favorite dried fruits and nuts, all bound together with rich, dark chocolate. Little ones can participate in creating and decorating cupcakes or heart-shaped pancakes, naturally accompanied by a bit of chocolate on the side.

Yet another option is to assign the kids household chores throughout the week and reward their diligence with modest amounts of money to put towards purchasing their very own chocolate gift for Mom. Children take great pleasure in contributing to the household (especially those in their pre-teen years), and this offers them an opportunity to take responsibility for how much they earn in relation to how much they can spend. It’s also a valuable life lesson, teaching them that the effort they invest directly correlates with the coins they amass!

Never Forget Flowers

At any point throughout the year, there’s simply nothing more delightful than receiving an unexpected bouquet of flowers right at your doorstep. Whether it’s an exquisite flower arrangement, a graceful potted orchid, or just ordering loose flowers for the children to craft into charming little posies, the sentiment is undeniably heartwarming. As any discerning florist would affirm, few expressions convey love and affection quite like flowers – well, perhaps chocolate shares a similar sentiment.
