What is trim size? The physical size of your ad in the finished document. It is where the page itself will be cut. Because it is cut by a machine, the cut is not absolutely precise every time and slight shifting does occur.

What is bleed? Bleed refers to artwork that goes beyond the edge of the page before trimming down to size. Bleed ensures that no unprinted edges occur in the finished document.

What is clear area? The area that we recommend you keep text, logos and other important visuals within, so that crucial information does not get cut off (either through the cutting or binding process).

Leave a lasting impression

Keep it simple
Keep the number of shapes, lines and fonts to a minimum. Have a clear message, and remove all other unnecessary details.

Use a grid
Grids bring order to a layout, making it easier for people to find and navigate through your information. The placement of elements should flow naturally from one to the next in a progression that lends itself to your message.

Proper use of white space
Don’t fill every spot on the page with content or graphics. The negative space on the page can be useful to guide the reader’s attention and eliminate distractions.

Note: It is important to note that white space doesn’t need to be white. The term simply refers to empty space on a page. It’s recommended that the body of the text should occupy from 25 to 40% of the total space of a page.
